"The Russian Ministry of Health approved the use of the vaccine for people over 60 years old after clinical trials that have shown complete safety and efficacy over 90% in this age group," the official Sputnik V Twitter account says.

The drug also did not cause serious side effects in this and other age groups, the vaccine developers added.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, announced the approval of the use of "Sputnik V" for the vaccination of persons over 60.
