Two sisters (Meera and Shahd Al-Shehhi) from Al-Jeer School for Secondary Education invented a device that works to remove fog from the streets, in order to help achieve clarity of vision in front of vehicle drivers, and then avoid traffic accidents due to lack of vision.

Student Meera Al-Shehhi told “Emirates Today”: “I created with my sister (Shahd) a device that works with a thermal fan system, that helps to fade fog, and it contains: a nichrome wire that contains high resistance, a thermometer to measure temperature and relative humidity, and a resistance heating element. "It is a metal casing, an electrical insulator, an electric heater, a fan, and a heat distributor."

She added: "We tested the device inside the school as an initial experiment, and we concluded its response to heating in a short time, and its temperature spread after heating, which made the fog begin to fade, and then disappear, so that pedestrians and vehicle drivers can see the road well," noting that using the device from It can reduce many road accidents that happen due to lack of visibility due to heavy haze.

Al-Shehhi confirmed that they aim to introduce modifications to the device, so that it can remove fog over long distances, in addition to that it can be installed at the front of the car, instead of being installed on street lighting poles, to be more effective.

The two students participated in the thermal fan system project in the Science, Technology and Innovation Festival, which was recently organized by the Ministry of Education, in the "Festival Arena - Dubai", among the top 100 innovative student projects that were shown at the festival, and the project was well received by the evaluation committee.
