At half past six, local time, on Christmas morning, a camper van exploded in downtown Nashville.

Camilla Larry Jackson from Sundsvall has lived in Nashville for six years and she says that her whole house was shaken by the bang.

The family recently moved to East Nashville, ten minutes by car from the area where the explosion occurred.

- Previously, we lived only five hundred meters from where the car exploded.

We have received text messages and calls all day from friends who wonder if we are okay.

It is clear that one has thought about what could have happened if we had been out with the dog or so.

Does this affect you in any way today?

- No, we're just home today.

And because of covid-19, it has been a bit like a lockdown here and you do not go out or meet.

But it's also a day when you're at home with your family and celebrating Christmas, so I do not think so many would move down in downtown Nashville anyway.

Disruptions in telecom

During the day, Camilla Larry Jackson has been following the news.

At a press conference, the police said that a warning message was sent out from the car which then exploded.

The message called on people to leave the area.

There are disruptions with telephony and internet after the bang, says Camilla Larry Jackson.

The Tennessean newspaper writes that the police have some problems with the emergency number 911 and the air traffic to and from Nashville is also affected due to disruptions in the telecommunications, reports AP.

The car detonated near a building belonging to the telecommunications company AT&T.

- It is strange, there are very few who live in that area, it is mostly bars and shops.

It is as if the person who did this did not want to harm people but still get something said.
