The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced Friday evening that a commercial ship suffered minor damage, after it hit a mine planted by the Houthis in the southern Red Sea, without causing any casualties.

Saudi state television quoted sources in the coalition that a sea mine planted by the Houthis in the south of the Red Sea hit a commercial cargo ship, without indicating its nationality.

The sources reported slight damage to the bow of the ship, without any casualties, accusing the Houthis of continuing to plant mines in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

This comes a day after the coalition announced the destruction of 4 Iranian-made naval mines planted by the Houthis, without mentioning where they were found.

A month ago, the coalition announced that a merchant ship had suffered minor damage as a result of thwarting a "terrorist act" launched by a booby-trapped boat in the southern Red Sea, and two days earlier, the Houthi group had targeted an Aramco oil station in Jeddah with a missile.
