The commander of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, pledged the day before yesterday, to remove the Turkish army from Libya by force if it does not depart peacefully.

This came in a speech delivered by Haftar during the celebration of the 69th anniversary of Libyan independence.

Haftar said that "there is no value to independence as long as the Turkish army occupies parts of our country," calling on it to "leave and evacuate, by peace or war, as long as Turkey refuses to bring peace," according to the Libyan news site, Al-Wasat Al-Wasat.

Field Marshal Haftar added in his speech, directing his speech to Turkey: "The era of your colonial illusions is over, and you must choose to leave or war."

Field Marshal Haftar also considered that “independence has no value, freedom has no meaning, security and peace, and the feet of the Turkish army contaminate our pure land.” He also stressed that “the occupying enemy has no choice but to leave peacefully and voluntarily, or by force of arms and strong will.”

Haftar also stressed that "there is no peace in the shadow of the colonizer, and with his presence on our land we will take up arms to make peace with our hands and with our free will," explaining that "Turkey continues to mobilize near the lines of contact, and insists on war to achieve its ambitions in our wealth."
