Kunreuth / Munich (dpa / lby) - A woman in the Upper Franconian district of Forchheim forgot to put out the candles on the Advent wreath when leaving her living room on Christmas Eve - the wreath caught fire.

The fire spread to the furnishings of the attic apartment in the apartment building, as a police spokesman announced on Friday.

Although the woman succeeded in extinguishing the fire near Kunreuth before the fire brigade arrived, damage totaled around 15,000 euros.

Nobody got hurt.

In Munich, too, the fire brigade broke out on Christmas Eve to cause an apartment fire. When the emergency services arrived at the scene of the fire, flames were already breaking out of the window of the ground floor apartment in the Berg am Laim district, as a spokesman for the Munich fire department said on Friday. The family living in the apartment was brought to safety by the emergency services and was taken to a hospital. The apartment was reportedly uninhabitable after the fire. The cause of fire was unclear for the moment.
