Sweden's largest cinema chain Filmstaden has closed all cinemas around the country.

The staff is laid off and with each passing day, the financial situation becomes increasingly strained.

At the same time, the bio giant understands the need for tough restrictions, but emphasizes that the government has given different industries very different conditions.

- If you compare with other environments that have been relevant here in the Christmas shopping, it does not feel like it has been completely consistent, says Helena Eklund, Commercial director at Filmstaden.

Change may come

In an email to SVT Nyheter, Minister of Culture Amanda Lind writes that the government will soon have opportunities to act against trade as well.

"

The new pandemic law will enable the restrictions to be designed more accurately and fairly against different types of activities

," the minister writes.

Continues with mini audience

SVT Nyheter Örebro has met the cinema owner Håkan Enock in Karlskoga who, while waiting for new information, will continue to show films to an audience of a maximum of eight people.

But it is a strained economic situation.

- How long we can drive, we do not really know.

We will drive the 13-weekend out and then we have to make a decision and see what happens, he says.
