The department clarified that, first of all, vaccinations against COVID-19 were received in nursing homes for citizens over 80 years old, employees of medical and social institutions.

It is noted that since the beginning of vaccination, which started on December 8, 616 933 people received the first dose of the vaccine.

England, which has the highest number of coronavirus cases, has received 521,594 vaccinations.

In Scotland, 56,676 people received vaccines, in Wales - 22,595, in Northern Ireland - 16,068.

On December 14, the UK Ministry of Health announced the discovery in the country of a new variety of COVID-19, which began to spread in London, as well as in the south-east of England.

Later, on December 23, Britain announced the identification of another new type of coronavirus infection, imported from the Republic of South Africa.
