China News Service, December 24. According to Agence France-Presse, a terrorist attack in Vienna, Austria, resulted in the death of five people, including the attacker Kuitim Fezule.

On December 23, local time, the Austrian government issued a report stating that the country’s intelligence agencies had missed several opportunities to discover the threat posed by the attacker.

According to reports, after the terrorist attack in Vienna, the Austrian government began investigating how the country's relevant agencies handled the threat warning before the attack.

The above report is the first evaluation report issued by the government committee.

On the evening of November 2, local time, a shooting incident occurred near a synagogue in the center of Vienna, the Austrian capital.

The picture shows the police blockade the nearby streets.

The partially abridged report stated that since Fei Zulai was released from prison in December 2019, the threat assessment by the authorities continued until October 2020.

The evaluation finally found that Fezulay constituted a “high risk”.

The report concluded that “the preliminary assessment took nearly 10 months, which seems unacceptable”.

Allegedly, Feizulai was convicted and imprisoned in 2019 for trying to travel to Syria to join the extremist organization "Islamic State".

The report pointed out that in July 2020, when Feizulei met with extremists in Germany and Switzerland, it was also possible to assess its “high risk”.

However, although the German intelligence agency disclosed relevant information to the Austrian intelligence agency, the Austrian authorities did not realize the seriousness of the meeting.

In addition, in July 2020, the Slovakian authorities warned that Feizulei was trying to buy ammunition, but the Austrian intelligence agency once again missed the opportunity.

The Austrian government committee stated that an agent had also suggested further measures against Feizulei, but they were ignored.

Austria's top security official Franz Ruff said that the report will be used for the reforms currently under way in the relevant institutions.

On November 2, local time, a terrorist attack occurred in Vienna, Austria, resulting in 4 deaths and 23 injuries including a policeman. The attacker himself was shot dead.

The Austrian police confirmed that the assailant was Kuytim Fezule, who has dual citizenship of Austria and North Macedonia.

This person was sentenced to 22 months in prison in Austria in April 2019.

He later participated in a de-radicalization project and was subsequently released on bail.
