Rampe / Schwerin (dpa / mv) - In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania there are currently around 160 police investigations in connection with requested Corona aid.

It is almost exclusively about the so-called Corona emergency aid, said the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) on request.

In each case, it is about bridging aid and aid from the state-owned Society for Structure and Labor Market Development (GSA).

At the end of March, the federal and state governments decided on emergency aid programs worth billions in response to the economic consequences of the corona pandemic.

According to this, the self-employed, small and medium-sized businesses receive financial aid from the state.

Depending on the size of the company, the grants are between 9,000 and 60,000 euros.

The federal government grants the funds for small businesses, but the state advances.

The applications could be submitted by the end of May - in the northeast there were more than 43,000, around 350 million euros were paid out.

According to the LKA, the procedures in connection with the emergency aid are based, among other things, on the fact that companies already had financial difficulties before the Corona crisis or these were insufficient to get funds.

In addition, funds were requested for companies that no longer exist, or the specified payout accounts have deviated from the actual company accounts.
