- I can understand the concern, but in this case there is a low risk of corona infection.

We also have a fairly low infection rate on the program right now, says Magnus Hultin.

This spring, Umeå University had an experiment where the students did the exams at home with supervision via an app, but since it is not possible to check one hundred percent that the students do not cheat, they now choose to have physical exams again.

40s suspended for cheating

According to the disciplinary committee at Umeå University, a total of 38 students have been suspended this year due to cheating and 4 have been warned.

The warnings were that the students used unauthorized aids.

Last year, 29 students were suspended.

During the autumn, the university has been in contact with the infection control and the unions.

Together, the university has developed a plan to minimize the risk of the spread of infection.

Among other things, the university has reduced the number of students who will be in the hall at the same time.

Students will be admitted through various entrances and there is more than two meters distance between the tables.

"Assumes that everyone acts professionally"

- Those who do not want to can wait for the re-examination or another step, but we offer what we think is a safe way to write the exam, says Magnus Hultin.

Isn't there a big risk with an exam in a large group when it has been Christmas break and the students have spent time with their families and been on internships?

- I assume that all students act professionally.

If you have symptoms of infection or are ill, you should not take the exam, says Magnus Hultin.

In the video, he explains why it is easy to cheat digitally, and more about the decision.
