The author Kim M. Kimselius and Lena Westerlund got to know each other in the 1970s and discovered that they had a common interest in dogs.

- We went on an excursion with the dogs, took walks and trained on the agility track in Wämöparken.

We had a lot of fun, says Kim M. Kimselius.

A few weeks ago, she was reached by the news that her friend had passed away after being infected with covid-19.

- I miss her very much.

It's empty after her.

Lena Westerlund passed away after being infected with covid-19.

- She had a big heart and always stood up, says her friend Kim M. Kimselius.

Now the friend's dog Smilla, a seven-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog, lives with the author in Eringsboda, together with the other two dogs, Kiara and Kotten.

It was obvious to Kim M. Kimselius that Smilla would become part of the family - and the dog reminds her of her friend every day.

- A consolation in the grief of my good friend is to have the dog.

When I get really sad, I drill my nose into my fur and wipe my tears.

Smilla means a lot to me.

It is still a link to Lena, she says.
