The Minister of Health of the Community of Madrid, Enrique Ruiz Escudero, announced this Wednesday that they

will apply restrictions in new basic health areas

due to the increase in cases of coronavirus.

The accumulated incidence has risen for the second week in a row, to

289 infections per 100,000 inhabitants

.

There are 75 more than those registered eight days ago.

"There are some more areas that are with this high cumulative incidence and that will probably enter those areas where these restrictions will be greater," Ruiz Escudero said in an interview on Antena 3.

The Minister of Health has reiterated that the Community of Madrid will continue with the model of specific restrictions for basic health areas, together with general limitations throughout the region, which made them control infections in the second wave.

Likewise, he has stressed that more than 80% of infections occur in the family or social environment, "more difficult to control", while no contacts associated with the hotel industry are detected, so for the moment they do not consider hardening the measures that affect to the sector.

"We have taken measures to make hospitality safe places and if we detect that these cases increase, we will make decisions, but today we do not detect infections associated with hospitality, therefore I believe that we must act where we know that these infections occur", has apostilled.

Ruiz Escudero has also affirmed that the rebound in cases in the Community is "closely associated" with the internal mobility that occurred during the Constitution bridge.
