The US Treasury Department stated on its website that the United States imposed new sanctions related to Syria today, targeting the Central Bank of Syria and blacklisting a number of individuals and entities.

These measures come in the wake of a series of sanctions imposed by Washington on Syria this year, and represent a new round in the United States' attempts to push the government of President Bashar al-Assad to return to the United Nations-led negotiations to end the war that began about ten years ago.
