The border has been basically free to cross since the end of World War II.

It is now closed due to the pandemic and surrounded by strict regulations to move between Sweden and Norway.

It has become extra clear for the Border Service now that Christmas is just around the corner.

- It affects many.

Some become desperate.

Someone has actually cried on the phone for obvious reasons.

and it also costs money if you have to cross the border, says Kjell Olsén at the Border Service.

Lacks a common strategy in the Nordic region

Kjell Olsén feels that, after all, there is an understanding among those who call that it is a pandemic.

But he believes the situation could have been different.

There are also those who think that there could have been clearer rules.

- It's a bit of a shame that we do not have the same rules from the beginning, because then the situation could have looked different, says Kjell Olsén.
