Dortmund (dpa / lnw) - Of the more than 100 last air travelers from Great Britain to Dortmund Airport on Sunday, six tested positive for the corona virus.

According to a spokeswoman for the city of Dortmund on Tuesday, they were not residents of the city, so the relevant health authorities at home and abroad were informed about the infections.

A test result was still pending on Tuesday.

All travelers are still in quarantine at home.

Even those with negative test results must initially remain isolated, the spokeswoman said.

Because of a feared mutation in the corona virus, air traffic from Great Britain and South Africa was prohibited on Sunday.

North Rhine-Westphalia had put the quarantine regulation back into force for both of them.

Accordingly, there is a compulsory corona test for travelers from there.

Quick tests of the landed passengers from the island in Düsseldorf were all negative.

Two passenger planes also landed at Cologne / Bonn Airport on Sunday.

According to initial findings by British scientists, the mutation discovered in Great Britain could be up to 70 percent more contagious than the previously known form.

The new variant has already been discovered in other countries.
