Real Madrid's top scorer Karim Benzema received the award "Alfredo de Stefano", which is given to the best player in the Spanish Football League, and the French won it last season 2019-2020.

The French star scored 21 goals that contributed to his team winning the LaLiga title, surpassing its traditional rivals Barcelona.

Benzema grabbed the award from the stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who had alternately won it since the 2007-2208 season, when it was won by Spain's Raul Gonzalez, the royal striker.

"It means a lot to me," Benzema said. "I feel proud and happy. This is a reward for my efforts at the club since 2009, and as I said earlier, this award makes me feel satisfied ... I joined Real Madrid for many years and I always work very hard to help the team."

"Messi and Ronaldo, elsewhere, have won dozens of individual awards. For me, it is my pride to win this award after them," he said.

This season, the former French international showed his importance and value for the Spanish capital team, and Benzema asserts in this regard that he "makes efforts in every exercise and always thinks about all matches ... I would like to continue playing for this club because - in my opinion - the best in the world."
