Kassel (dpa / lhe) - While trying to make New Year's Eve fireworks in his apartment, a man in Kassel was seriously injured.

As the fire department announced, there was an explosion in the apartment in an apartment building early on Tuesday morning.

The man had therefore handled dangerous substances.

The seriously injured was taken to a hospital.

Other people were not injured, according to a police spokesman.

The police have started the investigation.

The substances had been secured.
