Berlin (dpa / bb) - Unknown people attacked a building of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) in Berlin-Treptow and set two garbage containers on fire.

On Tuesday night, the perpetrators pelted the building with glasses filled with black paint, the police said.

A spokesman said over ten spots of color were found on the facade.

The color was discovered because witnesses informed the police about two burning dumpsters on the street in front of the BKA half an hour after midnight. The containers were probably pushed there beforehand, as the officials announced. The fire brigade was able to put out the fire quickly, nobody was injured. The background to the crime was initially unclear. The state security responsible for political crimes has been informed and will investigate damage to property and dangerous interference in road traffic.
