Munich / Würzburg (dpa / lby) - Ironically, in Bavaria, which is particularly Christian, there will be no late evening Christmas masses or midnight masses this year.

Many Catholic and Protestant parishes do not want to let the tradition be taken away from them and have therefore rescheduled without further ado.

Church services take place in the afternoons, some in the open air, and are broadcast live on the Internet so that as many believers as possible can attend at least from home.

Christmas masses are designed in such a way that visitors can be at home by 9 p.m. at the latest - because from then on, corona-related stricter exit restrictions apply throughout Bavaria until 5 a.m.

Only those who have a really valid reason such as a medical emergency are allowed out.

The Protestant Church in Bavaria has canceled all late Christmas masses and Christmas vespers.

Your Christmas services are to be broadcast on the Internet, radio and television.

The number of visitors to church services has been reduced, entry is only possible after registration.

Open-air services are to be held in many places across Bavaria in order to minimize the risk of infection.
