Engelskirchen (dpa) - According to the Deutsche Post, the Christ Child and his helpers in Engelskirchen have answered more letters than ever this year.

More than 150,000 wish lists from 49 countries had been processed in the so-called Christmas post office, the company announced on Tuesday.

That is a record.

130,000 letters were received last year.

In Germany there are several so-called Christmas post branches in places whose names indicate a good connection to the top.

For example in Himmelstadt or Himmelpforten.

The office in Cologne has existed since 1985. It was set up because letters appeared at the post office that were addressed to “To the Christ Child with the Angels”.

Year after year, the Christ Child - an actress in a white dress - now answers the letters together with helpers.

"Overall, the wishes of the children are more modest this year and are mainly about toys in all variations," explained the Post.

As always, a few submissions stood out.

Ben, for example, wanted - when he grows up - to be a millionaire and happy.

Aaron would like a talking parrot.

And of course the corona virus also played a major role - as letters showed in which "Dear Christ Child, remove the corona virus!"

or «I wish that there will be a vaccine soon» read.
