Erfurt (dpa / th) - Thuringia's state parliament has approved a majority of loans amounting to around 1.6 billion euros.

The supplementary budget was approved on Monday evening against the votes of the AfD and FDP.

According to this, loans of around 1.3 billion euros will be taken out this year and of 288 million euros next year.

The first new debt in years is necessary because Thuringia has less tax income than planned as a result of the economic slump caused by the corona pandemic.

In the evening, the parliament in Erfurt also wants to vote on the state budget for 2021.
