Berlin (dpa) - With a view to the corona pandemic, the federal government is promoting freelance musicians with classical scholarships.
According to information from Monday, 1500 aids in the amount of 6000 euros each are planned.
The program is aimed at performers from early music to early modern music and complements scholarships from the music fund for contemporary music, it said.
“2020 was a real disaster for freelance musicians,” said Minister of State for Culture Monika Grütters.
Easter and now in the Advent and Christmas season, many appearances have broken off.
"It is they who make a significant contribution to the diversity and innovative strength of our musical life," said the CDU politician.
