"The European Medicines Agency has recommended the issuance of an interim marketing authorization for the Comirnaty vaccine developed by BioNTech and Pfizer against the COVID-19 coronavirus infection for use by persons aged 16 and over," the press release said.

As noted by the executive director of the agency Emer Cook, the effectiveness and safety of the Pfizer vaccine has been confirmed.

On December 2, the UK authorities were the first in the world to approve the use of Pfizer and BioNTech vaccines in the country, later they did it in Bahrain, Canada, USA, Chile, Mexico and Switzerland.

Manufacturers have claimed 95% effectiveness for their coronavirus vaccine.
