Quedlinburg / Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - After the shots at a 73-year-old in Quedlinburg (Harz district) in the summer, a man's arrest warrant for murder was issued.

The 49-year-old was arrested by the federal police at an airport when he entered Germany, as the police in Magdeburg announced on Monday.

A judge sent him to custody.

The German is urgently suspected of having killed the 73-year-old.

The victim was found dead on the street in Quedlinburg on August 31.

Witnesses had previously heard several shots.

The special police commission continues to investigate the case. Further details were not given for tactical reasons. The 49-year-old was reportedly arrested by the federal police on Saturday. The investigators had previously searched several objects in the small town in the Harz. They hadn't found the Quedlinburger there.
