Future US President Joe Biden had himself vaccinated against the corona virus in front of the cameras.
Biden rolled up his left sleeve and said to the nurse who was holding the syringe, "I'm ready".
Biden then appealed to all Americans to get vaccinated as soon as a vaccine was available for them.
“There's nothing to worry about,” he assured her.
The future first lady, Jill Biden, was also vaccinated on Monday in Newark, Delaware.
It will be some time before the pandemic can be contained, said Biden.
Until then, people should continue to listen to the advice of the experts and wear masks, keep the necessary safety distance and not take unnecessary trips despite the holidays, warned the 78-year-old.

The Bidens received the first of two syringes of the vaccine from Pfizer and Biontech.
The incumbent US Vice President Mike Pence had himself vaccinated in front of the cameras last week.
The chairman of the US House of Representatives, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, and the Republican majority leader in the US Senate, Mitch McConnell, also received a vaccination on Friday.
Former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton have agreed to be injected publicly in order to demonstrate their confidence in the security of the funds and to reduce fears in the population.
The vaccine from Pfizer and Biontech has been used in the US on the basis of an emergency approval since last Monday.
The vaccine from biotech company Moderna has only been administered in the United States this week.
The Democrat Biden will be sworn in as the new President on January 20th.
It is so far unclear whether the incumbent President, Republican Donald Trump, is also planning a public vaccination.
His spokeswoman said he was "absolutely open" to it.
There are no concrete plans yet.
Trump fell ill with Covid-19 in early October and therefore had to be treated in hospital.
