"Emirates Today" broadcasts directly on its website the phenomenon of "The Great Coupling"

"Emirates Today" broadcasts the rare astronomical phenomenon that the world is witnessing this evening, and it occurs for the first time in 400 years, and some call it "the great coupling", due to an apparent approach in the sky between Jupiter and Saturn, which can be seen easily with the naked eye.

The director of the International Astronomy Center in Abu Dhabi, Engineer Mohamed Shawkat Odeh, said that Jupiter needs 12 years to rotate one revolution around the sun, while Saturn needs 30 years, and this means that for us both planets approach each other once every 20 years. And usually, the distance between them is between one degree to two degrees, and what distinguishes the conjunction this year is that the distance between them will be only six arc minutes, which is equal to one-tenth of one degree, which is a little less than a quarter of the moon’s diameter, apparently, which is a very small distance.

In a rare astronomical phenomenon that has not occurred for 400 years ... the world is witnessing tonight the "Great Coupling"
