The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization said that it would restore its relations with the United States in the event that the administration of US President-elect Joe Biden adhered to what it announced, reopened the PLO office in Washington and the US consulate in East Jerusalem, and declared its rejection of the Israeli plan to annex Palestinian lands in the West Bank.

The committee added, during a meeting held yesterday, Saturday, at the Palestinian Presidency, in the presence of President Mahmoud Abbas, that the Biden administration should announce the return of aid, support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and commit to the two-state solution.

The committee also stressed the need to complete the national reconciliation and abide by the decisions of the meeting of the general secretaries of the factions last September.

It is noteworthy that the Palestinian Authority cut off its contacts with the administration of current President Donald Trump in late 2017, after his recognition of occupied Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

For his part, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki called on Israel to return to negotiations on the basis of the two-state solution, on Saturday.

Al-Maliki said in a press conference in Cairo with his Egyptian and Jordanian counterparts, Sameh Shoukry and Ayman Safadi, that the Palestinian Authority had resumed security coordination with Israel after the latter sent "for the first time" a message declaring compliance with the agreements concluded with the Palestinian side.

The Palestinian minister added that the tripartite coordination establishes a breakthrough at the Arab and international levels and in dealing with the new US administration, calling for intensifying international pressure on Israel to stop its unilateral measures, especially those related to annexation, settlement, and isolation of Jerusalem.

In a joint statement, the three ministers said that they would work to mobilize international support to confront the illegal Israeli measures of settlement expansion and home demolitions.
