Today (21st) at 2:23 am, an earthquake of magnitude 6.5 occurred in the eastern coast of Aomori Prefecture, Japan.



According to the Japan Meteorological Agency and others, this earthquake, which was estimated to have an epicenter depth of 43 km, caused a shaking of up to 5 magnitudes in the northern inland areas of Iwate Prefecture.



The Japan Meteorological Agency's earthquake rating of about 5 is the level that most people feel afraid and need to hold onto.



NHK reported that the shaking continued for about 10 seconds in the area where the magnitude 5 was observed.



However, there was no tsunami caused by the earthquake, and no material damage was known.
