Husum (dpa / lno) - The district of North Friesland is supporting hospice work for children and young people in the district with 57,500 euros in the coming year.

The district grant enables the hospice services to offer mourning groups especially for children and young people and for parents of star children in addition to accompanying the entire family, the district announced on Sunday.

"Even if bereavement support is not an original task of child and youth welfare, it is definitely worth supporting," said District President Manfred Uekermann.

The accompaniment by hospice services helps many people through the difficult hours after the death of a relative. According to the information, health and long-term care funds do not finance this task. The North Frisian local politicians see the health insurers, which also support hospice work themselves, have a duty here. The district council has therefore asked the district administration to ensure sustainable financing in discussions with the health insurers.
