The specially chartered plane took off Saturday December 19 from Iraq.

He also had two Finnish wives and six children on board.

Among the returnees, several are orphaned children, some of whom are sick.

For the German government, humanitarian reasons explain this repatriation.

Other repatriations should take place "

in the weeks and months to come

" according to Berlin.

The weekly

Der Spiegel

provides more details on the three German women aged 21, 24 and 38.

One of them had joined her friend in Syria in 2014. She declared a year and a half ago to have broken with Daesh and is not being prosecuted in Germany.

She is repatriated with her two children who suffer from lung problems.

Germany accused of procrastinating

The other two women are being prosecuted for belonging to a terrorist organization.

One of them is also accused of complicity in a crime against humanity because of the abuse suffered by a Yazidi woman detained as a slave.

Germany, like other countries, had so far repatriated few people, citing practical and legal difficulties.

Orphaned or sick children have been orphaned as well as an adult woman.

Several detainees have been trying for months in German courts to obtain their repatriation and that of their children, while

the humanitarian situation in the camps in Syria

is very critical.

A family lawyer criticized the German government for procrastinating.
