China News Service, Beijing, December 20. At present, with the intensification of aging, the health threats caused by osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures are becoming increasingly serious.

"China Health Knowledge Communication Incentive Program (Bone Strength Program)-China Fragile Fracture High Risk Patient Management Program" was officially launched in Beijing recently.

The project seeks to explore the establishment of a standardized management model for high-risk patients with fragility fractures that is in line with China's national conditions, the collaboration of various departments in the hospital, and the interaction between doctors and patients, to help the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and the prevention of osteoporotic fractures.

According to the "China Development Report 2020: Development Trends and Policies of China's Population Aging", China's population aging will reach its peak in 2050, and the proportion of elderly people aged 65 and over will be close to 30%.

In 2018, China's first large-scale osteoporosis epidemiological survey showed that the prevalence rate of osteoporosis in people over 65 years old in my country reached 32.0%, while the awareness rate of patients over 50 years old was only 7.0%.

According to reports, osteoporosis, as an age-related disease closely related to aging, has a relatively low treatment rate and awareness rate.

At the same time, since the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis involves multiple departments in the hospital, it also brings challenges to the comprehensive management of patients' visits and follow-ups.

The recently launched "Bone Strength Plan" project is jointly sponsored by the National Health Commission Institute of Science and Technology and the Osteoporosis and Bone Mineral Salt Disease Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. The National Health Commission's Disease Control Bureau, China Health Education Center and the Office of China Association for Records Guided by other units and supported by Amgen.

Based on the international fracture liaison service model, the plan explores the establishment of a standardized management model for high-risk patients with fragility fractures in line with my country’s national conditions. It builds an intelligent data platform and guides patient referrals under the collaboration of various departments in the hospital to strengthen treatment. Management of high-risk patients to reduce the risk of recurrence of fragility fractures.

The osteoporosis flow analysis shows that the problem of osteoporosis is particularly serious in middle-aged and elderly women. The prevalence rate of women over 50 years old is 32.1%, and the prevalence rate of women over 65 years old is 51.6%.

In order to monitor the health status of high-risk groups, relevant departments of dozens of medical institutions, including Peking Union Medical College Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, will participate in the construction of the first batch of pilot demonstration units of the "Bone Strength Plan".

In pilot medical institutions, health management, disease monitoring, clinical treatment and long-term follow-up are organically combined, which can monitor and analyze the curative effect, adverse reactions, and medication use of different groups of people at high risk of fragility fractures during the treatment process, and assist in all aspects Patient's bone health management.

Xia Weibo, the core expert of the project and director of the Endocrinology Department of Peking Union Medical College Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, said: “The project will combine digital management tools to explore patient management paths suitable for China’s national conditions, through media promotion, knowledge popularization, standardized diagnosis and treatment, long-term follow-up, demonstration and promotion. The development of a long-term effective management system to improve the management level of high-risk patients with fragility fractures, truly realize the creation of a "bone health concept", implement the "bone health action", establish a "bone health standard", and establish a "bone health model unit" ".

The "Bone Strength Project" is divided into three modules. It will try to build patient management and digital platforms, enhance academic exchanges in the field of bones, and spread the concept of healthy bones to help healthy bones.

When talking about the future vision of the "Bone Strength Plan," Wang Yipeng, the core expert of the project, former vice president of Peking Union Medical College Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and chief physician of orthopedics, said, "For the long-term management of patients with osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures, we must It requires the joint efforts of all parties in society, that is, with the joint support of the government, clinicians, and society. We also hope that the implementation of the project will be truly effective and sustainable, and will contribute to the healthy and aging society."

Zhang Zhenlin, chairman of the Osteoporosis and Bone Mineral Diseases Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, said: "The Osteoporosis and Bone Mineral Diseases Branch of the Chinese Medical Association has been exploring patient management paths that are more in line with China’s national conditions. Every attempt has helped. Our clinicians have more thoughts on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, which has further increased the country’s attention to the treatment of osteoporosis. We also hope that the development of this project, through the efforts of all parties, can respond to the international bone The call of the Porosity Foundation on the action of'conquer the fracture'."

The "China Health Knowledge Dissemination Incentive Plan" project is jointly initiated and guided by the National Health Commission's Disease Control Bureau, China Health Education Center, and the Office of the China Association for Recorders. It aims to promote joint action by all parties to deal with chronic diseases and risk factors affecting public health The threat posed by high incidence.

Since 2015, the project has cooperated with the special action of "Healthy Bone" and has cooperated with multiple academic institutions to carry out the comprehensive spread of osteoporosis prevention and control and disease prevention and control pilot work for 6 years.
