Dortmund (AP) - Borussia Dortmund's currently injured star striker Erling Haaland has been named footballer of the year in his home country Norway.

The 20-year-old secured the title for the first time, replacing last year's winner Martin Ödegaard from Real Madrid.

The Norwegian football association NFF announced on Sunday.

Haaland is currently curing a torn hamstring.

Since moving from Red Bull Salzburg to BVB in January, the striker has scored 23 goals in 23 Bundesliga games.

“It's a great honor and something I really appreciate.

I'm very proud and it shows that I'm doing something right, ”said Haaland, according to the Norwegian media.

The women won the former Wolfsburg Caroline Hansen, who now plays for FC Barcelona.

She had already won the previous year.
