St. Ingbert (dpa / lrs) - An 81-year-old man was hit by a car in St. Ingbert and seriously injured.

The man had been operated on in a hospital, he is doing well under the circumstances, said a police spokesman on Sunday.

According to the police, a 64-year-old driver overlooked the 81-year-old pedestrian on a sidewalk while turning on Saturday morning and collided with him.

He was seriously injured in the collision and the fall and was taken to a hospital.

The 64-year-old is being investigated on suspicion of negligent bodily harm.

The investigation continued, the police said.

The street was closed for 30 minutes on Saturday morning.
