Berlin (dpa) - The first funds from the Corona December aid should soon reach companies.

As the Ministry of Economic Affairs announced to the dpa, according to the current status, down payments will be made at the beginning of January 2021 at the latest.

The advance payments are an advance payment for later payments.

Business associations had expressed massive criticism of the slow implementation of the aid.

Companies receive down payments of 50,000 euros, and solo self-employed up to 5,000 euros.

This already applies to the November aid.

The federal government had decided to provide billions in aid for companies, for example from the catering industry, which had to close their business operations since the beginning of November due to the partial lockdown.

The ministry is in close contact with the federal states on all programs, it said.

According to the ministry, as of Friday, a total of almost one billion euros in advance payments to companies and solo self-employed people such as artists were paid out for November aid.

The Ministry spoke of strong support for many entrepreneurs in difficult times.

Bridging aid III should be available from January.

Unlike the November and December aid, losses in sales are not reimbursed, but fixed operating costs such as rents and leases.

The federal government had justified this with the immense costs of the November and December aid.

The maximum amount for Bridging Aid III was increased from 200,000 euros to 500,000 euros.

This maximum grant is planned for companies that are directly and indirectly affected by closures.

Part payments are also planned for bridging aid III.

The ministry is currently assuming that this will probably be possible in the course of January 2021 by means of a “simplified application process” - also with a maximum amount of 50,000 euros.

For example, short-time work allowance is deducted from regular assistance.

It can take a while until all the information is available.

In addition, it can take a while for final sales figures to be available - companies with a drop in sales compared to the same month of the previous year receive the bridging aid.

The higher the break-in, the more is reimbursed, up to 90 percent of the fixed costs.

Access to bridging aid for November and December has been expanded, primarily targeting retailers in view of the tough lockdown.
