December 18, 2020 "The impact on the population of the anti-Covid vaccination will be seen in late spring. This means that we will have to live with the virus for a significant time with the only real weapon we have, which is that of non-pharmacological measures. Hence my attitude of prudence, especially during the 15 days of Christmas to avoid a resurgence ".
This was stated by the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, in connection with a meeting of the Fnomceo (National Federation of Medical Orders).
Until "10-15 million people have been vaccinated, the immunological effect will still be residual - he continued - and therefore for several weeks we will have to maintain a significant level of attention".
"The good news of these weeks is the acceleration of the vaccination campaign - continued Speranza - we are optimistic that on December 21st the EMA (European Medicines Agency) and on the 22nd Aifa (Italian Medicines Agency) will be able to approve the Pfizer-Biontech vaccine path and having the very first vaccinations ".
Furthermore, on January 6, the EMA "will approve the second vaccine, that of Moderna - concluded the minister - and this will enable us to expand our vaccination campaign".
