Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - In the trial against a suspected spy of the Indian foreign intelligence service, the judgment is expected at the Frankfurt Higher Regional Court on Friday.

The Federal Prosecutor's Office has requested a suspended sentence of one year for the 54-year-old, the defense an acquittal.

The prosecution assumes that the man has regularly passed on internals from opposition groups to senior officers at the Indian consulate general in Frankfurt since the beginning of 2015.

This involved members of the Sikh religious community and the Kashmir movement in Germany. India and Pakistan each control part of the Himalayan region of Kashmir and reject calls for undivided and independent Kashmir. The man denied these allegations in court. The process began in late August.
