Ellwangen (dpa / lsw) - A fire broke out in the basement of a large apartment building in Ellwangen (Ostalbkreis).
Because of the heavy smoke development, eleven people were injured, in one case the injuries were even serious, the police said.
The cellar was completely in flames in the fire on Thursday evening.
The fire brigade cleared the house with 31 parties and initially looked after the people in tents.
Since the house is uninhabitable for the time being because of the smoke and damage to cables and lines in the basement, the residents were taken to emergency shelters during the night.
According to the police, the amount of damage was initially not known.
A technical cause is not excluded as the cause of the fire.
