The first green light from the FDA reinforces the vast vaccination operation launched earlier this week in the United States.
For the Federal Medicines Agency, the Moderna vaccine against the new coronavirus can be used as soon as possible.
The decision must be definitively validated this Friday, December 18 during the day.
As of this weekend, six million doses could be distributed in the United States.
Six million in addition to the three million doses
of Pfizer's vaccine
, in distribution since Monday.

The advantage of Moderna's vaccine, for the American authorities, is that it can be distributed more widely, even in rural and isolated areas, because it can be stored at normal temperatures, unlike the Pfizer vaccine which must be maintained at -70 degrees (-70 ° C).
With these two vaccines validated, Americans will be able to move up a manufacturing gear to ensure continuous supply.
For now, medical staff and retirement homes remain the priority.
This campaign is taking shape as cases of contamination and deaths continue to rise in the country.
On Wednesday, more than 3,700 people died from Covid-19, a sad record.
The virus claimed the lives of 3,249 people on Thursday.
In total, the death toll is over 310,000 victims in the United States since the start of the pandemic.
