In the last 23 years, wind power has resulted in almost 8,000 tonnes of waste.

But in 23 years, the same figure is expected to be 61,000 tons, according to DR.

Denmark's Minister of the Environment Lea Wermelin does not see landfilling as a good alternative.

- That's what we tried to move away from as a society, that you just throw everything in the trash and then stop thinking about it, she says.

Wind Denmark's CEO Jan Hyllenberg agrees with the strange thing that there is so much waste from what is usually described as a “green” industry.

- 85 to 90 percent of wind turbines are recycled today. The challenge, as in other countries, is fiberglass. Landfill is part of the solution today, but of course it can not be in the future, he says.
