Munich (dpa) - Triple winner FC Bayern Munich also felt the financial impact of the corona pandemic.

The German football record champions had to accept losses in sales and profits in the 2019/20 season compared to the previous year, the club announced on Friday.

Accordingly, the total turnover of the group was 698 million euros.

In the previous season, the club had announced record revenues of 750.4 million euros.

The profit after tax fell from 52.5 million euros (2018/19) to 9.8 million euros.

The financially strongest Bundesliga club assessed the annual result in view of the losses caused by the corona pandemic "even positively".

Since March 2020, Munich has had to play all games in the Allianz Arena without spectators.

“Against this background, both the sales generated and the fact that we were able to close the past season with a profit can be assessed positively.

The reason for this is not least the outstanding successes that our team has achieved ”, said the chairman of the board Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in the announcement.
