National goalkeeper Manuel Neuer from the Champions League winner FC Bayern can hope for the award of world goalkeeper alongside the Brazilian Alisson from Liverpool FC and the Slovenian Jan Oblak from Atlético Madrid.

Millions of fans worldwide, the coaches and captains of the 211 national teams of the world association as well as selected journalists voted.
