US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he had "no connection" with any possible trial of Hunter, the son of President-elect Joe Biden.

Trump added in a tweet on "Twitter" that he was not involved in any criminal investigation related to the Biden family.

Trump's tweet came a day after Jeffrey Rosen, who next week will act as Attorney General William Barr after resigning on December 23, refused to say in an interview with "Reuters" whether or not he would appoint a special advisor to investigate Hunter Biden and his foreign business dealings.

A person familiar with the matter said Trump, who will leave office on Jan.20, is secretly considering whether to press the Justice Department to appoint a special investigator for Hunter Biden.

On December 9, Hunter Biden revealed that the US attorney general of Delaware was investigating his tax affairs.

Hunter Biden has long been a target of Republican criticism.

Trump and his allies have often raised questions about a potential conflict of interest related to his position on the board of directors of Ukrainian energy company Porisma while his father was Democratic Vice President Barack Obama, and has also called for investigations into his efforts to raise capital for a Chinese fund.
