"Agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus and the Federal Service of the National Guard of Russia ... The parties cooperate in accordance with the provisions of this agreement, acting within their competence, in compliance with the legislation and international obligations of the states of the parties," the document says.

It notes that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard will interact in a number of areas, including the protection of public order and security, the protection of important state facilities and special cargo, the fight against terrorism and extremism and state control in the field of arms trafficking.

The document emphasizes that the interaction of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard "should be carried out on the basis of requests from the interested party or on the initiative of the other party, assuming that such assistance is of interest."

Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the internal affairs bodies are in control of the situation in the country.
