US Vice President Mike Pence will be vaccinated Friday "in public" against Covid-19 after the launch of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on Monday.

Joe Biden is expected to do so next week, according to CNN and Politico.

Mike Pence and his wife Karen will be vaccinated to "boost the confidence" of Americans, the White House said in a brief statement on Wednesday.

Donald Trump, who was infected with the virus earlier this year, has so far given no indication of when he might also undergo exercise.

"The president is ready to be vaccinated and will do so as soon as his medical team deems it appropriate," said spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany.

“But his priority is the workers who are on the front line”.

President-elect Joe Biden has told him he will be doing it in public soon, as has former President Barack Obama.

The United States gave the green light to Pfizer-BioNTech's vaccine on Friday evening, paving the way for a massive nationwide vaccination campaign that began on Monday.

The American Medicines Agency (FDA) should also give urgent authorization to Moderna's vaccine by the weekend.

In Alaska, a health worker had a severe allergic reaction on Tuesday.

She had to be hospitalized.

She received an antihistamine and epinephrine (adrenaline).
