Earlier, the US Department of Justice and 11 states also filed antitrust lawsuits, accusing Google of using anti-competitive agreements to ensure that its search engine on smartphones is in a dominant position.

The latest lawsuit also accused Google of taking action to prevent or suppress the reduction of search results on specialized engines in the travel, home decoration and entertainment fields.

David Dininelli, a former antitrust official of the Justice Department, said the new lawsuit highlights Google’s alleged suppression of other competitors that provide specific search services, which may include sites such as Hotels.com or Angie's List.

He said that the result of the monopoly clearly harmed the interests of consumers and small businesses.

"If you are a hotel in Taos, New Mexico, you can't rely on good ratings on Hotels.com or being mentioned in an article in Travel + Leisure magazine, because Google wants to make money from searching most of the results on the homepage." Dininelli said.

"The only way to reach the customers you want to attract is to pay Google to ensure that they are seen on the first page of the ad, rather than following the results of natural selection."

On the 16th local time, Texas and 9 other states also sued Google, accusing it of anti-competitive behavior in advertising technology.

According to people familiar with the matter, the states that filed the latest lawsuits are currently reviewing the complaints filed by Texas, but have not yet decided whether to participate in the case.

As part of the lawsuit filed on the 17th, these states are also merging their cases with those of the Justice Department.
