Berlin (dpa / bb) - The Berlin clinic operator Vivantes has confirmed the first corona death in its workforce.

An employee of the Neukölln rescue center did not survive an infection with the corona virus, the company said on Thursday.

Where he was infected is unknown.

Through the death "it became tragically clear once again that this disease must be taken very seriously," said a Twitter message from Vivantes.

The company claims to be the largest municipal hospital group in Germany and operates over 100 clinics and institutes in Berlin.
