Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The family doctors in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania see a great need for advice on corona vaccination among patients and therefore want to be included in the state's vaccination concept.

"The country's general practitioner association, which represents around 500 colleagues, was not involved in the preparations," criticized board member Jan Eska on Thursday.

Important information about the vaccine and the country's strategy was missing.

"As family doctors, we have to answer numerous questions from our patients about the corona vaccine every day, but we cannot provide comprehensive information because we have not been informed about current developments."

Eska warned not to gamble away patient trust. He assumes that older people in particular with numerous previous illnesses could not be vaccinated without comprehensive advice. This time is probably not planned in the central vaccination centers. For general practitioners, there is also the question of whether patients should be treated in the practices or in the vaccination centers in the event of vaccination complications. General practitioners reportedly administered around 400,000 vaccinations in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania this year.
