-The asphalt bleeds tar, and it gets stuck on the tires that spread it everywhere.

It both damages the vehicles and gives rise to major traffic injuries, says Snorri Holm Sigurdsson.

It is the drastic temperature difference of 20 degrees Celsius that the country has seen recently that causes the "bleeding" in the asphalt.

The temperature has gone from minus -10 degrees to temperatures above 10+ degrees in some parts of the country.

According to the Coastal and Road Administration's communications manager in Vegagerdin, there is no clear solution to the road problem.

- It is not an optimal situation, but we can not do much, says G. Petur Matthiasson.
