The party was in full swing when the gendarmes of the Angers company went to this private land, in Saint-Sylvain d'Anjou (Maine-et-Loire).

Around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, between 150 and 200 people from the Travelers' community had met to celebrate a wedding.

The soldiers, on patrol in the area, were alerted by an “abnormally high flow” of vehicles in this rural area,

"We got in touch with the organizer of this party to explain to him the issues in the context of the curfew, but also the risks that he and the guests were taking with regard to the health context", indicates Lieutenant-Colonel Julien Andreau .

If gatherings of more than six people are prohibited on public roads, they are simply not recommended in the private sphere, even if legal proceedings can be opened for endangering the life of others.

Failure to comply with the curfew, on the other hand, exposes offenders to a fine of 135 euros.

Violation of the curfew and traffic violations

If a few guests left before 8 p.m., the majority of them, despite being warned, continued to feast before leaving by car later in the evening.

"A control system for around thirty gendarmes has been set up around the site," continues Lieutenant-Colonel Julien Andreau.

In total, around 100 tickets were issued for violation of curfews or traffic violations.
